Our modern indoor bouldering centre offers a fresh and exciting climbing experience for people of all abilities. The gym has a variety of different angled walls offering unique challenges, as well as a dedicated training area with campus boards, finger boards and more.
Stock up on those climbing essentials – our in-house shop sells chalk, tape, and plenty more. If you are looking for a present, we offer gift vouchers too.
Hungry? Grab a snack from our fully licensed café or perhaps a well-earned drink after your session.
Don’t forget – we organise outdoor rock climbing trips throughout the year so if you want to transfer those indoor skills to the local rock, let us know by checking out Chimera Outdoors.
Learn to climb in a fun and friendly atmosphere surrounded by like-minded people. Whether you are new to the sport of climbing, looking to get fit, keen to implement a healthy lifestyle or a seasoned pro, Chimera is the place for you. We are a bouldering gym which means no ropes - instead the walls are lower, and surrounded by safety matting. But it also means no harnesses to squeeze into and no tricky knots to learn.
You can rent shoes at reception, and simply have to register and watch the induction video before you can climb. You can register online here to save time. No prior experience is required – just ask away at reception if you have any questions.
If you want a helping hand, we offer taster sessions to those new to the sport and coaching classes for those looking to improve.

Chris is Chimera’s Director, he grew up in Kent and has been climbing since the age of 10, and he loves it every bit as much today as he did back then. When not honing his skills on the local sandstone rocks around Tunbridge Wells , Chris regularly heads to Fontainebleau in France to boulder with his friends.
Andre is Chimera’s Director and also Head Route Setter. He has been climbing since he could crawl, and as well as bouldering, is proficient in sport and trad climbing. Having climbed all over the world - including the mecca of climbing, Yosemite - Andre’s next ambition is to tick off an E10 route. Which one he has his eyes on is a closely guarded secret…
